as you can see from the image, the module assignment section under the modules' parameters... everything looks messed up. the options are not expanding properly and if they do, it is unreadable.

Please check your plugins for administator panel - maybe some of these plugins cause your problem.

Please try to disable 3rd party plugins installed in Joomla! administration panel.

forgive me not completely understanding but i do not see anything labeled "administration panel". also, i have nearly 50 plugins in my plugin manager. how would i even know which one to disable? furthermore, why would i disable it if it is being used?

I have the same problem.
It is definitely from the plugin "System - Advanced Module Manager"
I have it installed, and i bet u do too since there's the overlapping sentence:
"will be published if any......"

try disabling it temporarily until u have ur module customized,
and re-enable it again when u're done

but if u need the plugin with this module...

can't be of much help

I think u should address ur problem the following way:

"how to disable the gavick animation effect (the red collapsible buttons i mean)in the site back-end, or at least in certain module back-ends (such as news show pro gk4 in your case)?

because this animation is apparently conflicting with other plugins that are editing the same view of the module back-end..."

I hope my point is clear

You are right, i disabled "System - Advanced Module Manager" and the GK4 module was indeed readable.

However, i need System - Advanced Module Manager enabled to tell the GK4 module where exactly to show up as i do not want it on every page. the System - Advanced Module Manager is great because i can pick and choose where modules will show up including the GK4 module, but without the System - Advanced Module Manager i cannot do that. even if i disable it temporarily and configure GK4, when i enable it back i cannot see System - Advanced Module Manager working in the GK4 module's parameters.

is there any work around or fix for this so i can have both enabled at the same time?

yes yes this is exactly what i meant when i said
but if u need the plugin with this module...

can't be of much help

"the plugin" i meant is the plugin advanced module manager,
and "the module" i meant is news show pro gk4
& i understand the importance of them working together

i think the problem is that the gavick style of animation
(u know those red collapsible buttons)
are not configured to handle collapsible subcategories
(i mean within the red button, there are more buttons that will eventually expand/collipse)
and this rule should be somewhere in the concerned css file
and since it's not there, all those "subcategories" are almost treated as level 0 buttons
so, all those level1 buttons are treated as level 0 buttons and they all look endlessly 1 behind each other

in this case u have 1 of 2 solutions:
1- either disable all gavick-specific style&animation in the BACKEND only
(whether everywhere in the site, OR just in this module)
--->it should be the easiest&fastest solution

2- either add some css rules to style those subcategories,
i mean those level1 sub-buttons that come inside a level 0 section
---> I hope it's easy and fast enough

now, once again, i do NOT know where those css styles are
I have a really modest knowledge in all this
and i hope my remarks help to adress the issue

regards

PS, i also am interested in knowing how it's done,
so i'll try to stay updated on this

i sure hope the developers for the GK4 version of the extension are reading and paying attention to this thread because it is definitely something that needs to be addressed.

unfortunately you are way over my head when you talk about Level 0's and Level 1's as well as doing any coding in CSS.

i was just hoping for a working module that worked just like GK1 and GK3.

please admins and developers, fix this so i can use it.

also, flora, what exactly do you mean "1- either disable all gavick-specific style&animation in the BACKEND only"?

are you saying to actually disable the GK4 module?

generally, gavick team do no take responsability of 3rd party extensions

but this thread is something to be adressed, not because of this module specifically,
but because gavicks' animation in the backend (although nice and user-friendly) is standing in way of other plugins
(backend is the administrator panel and so on, the one that guests don't see)

so the gavick team should come up with a setting to allow us administrators to disable those animations
because backend animation is secondary towards backend performance

i'm not saying to disable the gk4 module by itself,
i'm suggesting to disable its backend animation (the one that u are showing in this printscreen that u provided), regardless of what guests see in the site.
this is not something that i or you can do instantly,
it's something that should be done by someone who can understand the code fully

I wish i knew how, but i don't
i have no more than a basic knowledge in programming, u see...

Yes, thank you flora for making this issue more clear. i feel, just as you do, that the red button animation looks great, but it is conflicting with other plugins.

please gavick programmers, fix this problem so it is usable.

you have a great extension here. lets not make it unusable because of pretty red collapsible/expandable buttons.
