Looking for help with K2 images...intro image

On my website I plan on having a few different spots where articles will be displayed. Example being a recent articles section on the homepage where you display a thumbnail maybe 150x150px for an article.

K2 doesn't offer a lot of of options when it comes to the images it produces. Just differently sized versions of the same image.

Say I make an article, and this is the article image:

That's fine and dandy, but squishing that down to 150x150 is going to look terrible. With K2 you can't choose with every article where you want to crop or resize the image. So say I want to use just Superman's head as the 150x150 image on the front page. Is there a way I can do that?

I get the impression what I'm looking for is an "intro image" however K2 doesn't allow that so I'm wondering if there's any way to work it in with the module.

In GK4 version there was a crop setting however this will effect all items module is pulling so I am not sure if that is going to be any help.
