Hello,

I've a little question about crop settings for our website in production http://www.sxminfos.net
All my thumbnails of the front page (modules "saint martin" / "france / "internation") have a width of 224px and an height of 140px. My problem is that the orignal images can be horizontal or vertical.
I can't find the right settings for a good display of both type of image.
My settings : Image auto-scale in on "ON", I tried with aspect ratio on "ON" as well as for thumbnail "strech" but the result is not good.
Here is the display :
Sans-titre-1.png

1st image : vertical image (it cuts the head of the president....)
2nd image : horizontal image (display ok)
Any idea of a solution ?

Thanks in advance

Hi

I'm affraid there is no solution for that if You want to keep a fixed height. Anyway please send me an access to Your joomla panel. I'll try to figure something out.

Hi,

First of all, thank you very much for your answer.

I thought that there was no solution, but I decided to ask you anyway ...
For me, I think the best solution for a better display is to have nearly square thumbnails.

Thanks and have a good weekend

Hi

That's probably a good solution too, but I was thinking of an unconventional way to do that. With a little code change it's possible to show only a top of an image so bottom will be cut below set height value.

Oh oh oh....
In fact, the problem is that sometimes on a vertical image the important part can be at the top, sometimes at the bottom or middle !
But, I'm always interested in unconventional method... If you have a little time, can you explain it to me ?

Thanks a lot !

Hi

If You are saying that important part can be anywhere than images cannot be cut at all. Which means cropping is not an option. In this case I believe width should be static and height value more flexible and should change to show the full image but resized.

Me again...

After several entries with vertical image, I change my mind, I think your idea of cropping a part can be the right solution. I would like to crop the bottom so that it displays only the top. Could you tell me what code I have to change/add for this ?

Thanks !

Hi

This would require module code modification. Normaly we do not support such changes, but I'm curious about the result too, so please send me FTP access and I'll make it.

Hi i have the same problem with the crop image.
I tried many combinations in the crop rules but nothing. Always cut the same parts. I want to cut from the bottom and not from the top.
Is it something that i can do with crop rules or something must be changed in module code?

thanks

Should be working with just settings. Please send me an access to Your joomla panel. I'll try.
