PORTAL MODE GK4 ONLY FOR K2 ?

Am I right in understanding that non-K2 normal Joomla articles
are not displayed in portal mode ?
If so , I am quite disappointed.
I am using WorldNews II

Both Joomla! and K2 content can be displayed in portal mode.

GV4 on test site set up with jumpstart J1.5 template is
giving no pictures (thumbs)s yet.
Wih GV3 on live site the links are not leading to the articles ( error 404 ) and also
and no pictures (thumbs) .
Still trying ..

I managed to get a thumbnail now in GV4 ,
but only if the image link is standing on its own,
like <img src="http://www.site.biz/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2011/09/D5135141-9318-4AE8-8B08-C2C45F2D3FCC10.jpg" border="0" width="80" height="66" align="left" style="margin:5px" />

but no thumb appearing if the image carrying a link like

is there a way around this limitation,
all of my images are clickable ,,,,carry links
