Display all articles based on category parents

Hi is it possible to show all articles by selecting a sub categories' parent category?

e.g.

news
- news sub 1
- news sub 2
- news sub 3
reviews
- reviews sub 1
- reviews sub 2
- reviews sub 3

I need to be able to select 'news' as the data source and not only pick one of its children 'news sub 1', as I need NSP to display all items from sub categories.
