Issue with articles

I purchased a template (Geometrix from themeforest) and I just want to do something quite basic with a webiste, but I seem to be missing something (maybe a brain cell!)

Basically what I have here is great;

I created it by making a category called Bathroom and changed the News G4K to that) and made two articles each with an image inside (news & image2)

I am not sure why this newsflash article keeps coming up or how to get rid of it? Is there an easier way of doing what Im trying to do? I need to be able to click on each thumb nail and have the article open in a new window not as an article appearing below the thumbs.

I need to have each page with this module (I would just duplicate the original?)

If anyone could help me, that would be wonderful, and I apologise if this message is confusing.
