Pre-loader animation not working

I've followed your instructions to upload our own custom preloader to the theme via FTP client.
I did it just like the instructions say and also did it for E-Commerce Child Theme as well, not just the parent.
But it's still not working and continues to use the default theme's orange preloader.

I've cleared my cache, checked on other browsers and refreshed my FTP client after each upload as well. I made sure to overwrite the file as well and it's named default.gif like you instruct.

Can you see why it's not working and how we can get it fixed? We did make our gif image slightly larger than the one you were using before, but it's only 100px x 25px. Could that be why it's not working?
