Making the headernav permanent

Hi. I love the quark template because of how minimalistic it is. Is it however possible to have the main menu static and above the header position. I find that sometimes the menu is not visible depending on the image at the header position. When i am scrolling down however the fixed menu bar shows so well with the white background, but when i get to the top it disappears and leaves the menu that is overlayed on the header image. can i make it not disappear at all.
