PayPal currency issue

Hey, team, I am now bug-fixing the ordering process in the Quark template.

The problem I have is that, although the shopping cart has a total in Romanian LEI (as it should have), the PayPal log-in page shows the total ammount in USD dollars (attached). This is a biiig problem

Please let me know if the issue is from somewhere inside the template (I already know it pretty well and I have searched everywhere to see if I miss-configured something) or if it comes from PayPal (although I think PayPal is smart enough to convert LEI into USD, so maybe it just receives the wrong currency information from the template???).

I do not think it is coming from template, but You can make a small test. Switch to default joomla template as for example "Protostar" and try to do same thing again and see how it acts. If it still be using dollar as currency than You will need to report this to VM support.

I have made the test and unfortunately both Protostar & gk_quark templates have the same USD currency I went back to joomla default template for now. I will try to contact VM.

In the meantime, if you know any other PayPal plugin that might be compatible with the template, it would be awesome to have the information and have it tested: we are in a bit of a hurry, we were hoping to lauch the website by the 1st of September (

Unfortunately I've never been using any other plugin, so cannot advice anytihng, but maybe it has something to do with server configuration, because this is the first report of such problem.

I have been missing for a while (have a baby coming, yey and I saw your reply - I started reading all threads on this problem on the Virtuemart Forum.

In the meantime, I tried testing another order and I got a different error on the PayPal page (attached) - maybe it helps?!
Can you please advise if this is not coming from somewhere else inside the template? Can you take a look just to see how everything is configured at the moment and maybe try placing an order?

Solved it.
By simply adding the Euro in the 'List of Accepted Currencies' (Shop Configuration) and selecting Euro as 'Payment Currency' in the 'Payment Methods' on the right. Turns out PayPal does not support RON (Romanian Lei) as currency on their platform.

Now it works perfectly, yey!
