top nav is a different colour for the contact page

How can this be rectified to be the same as the rest of the template?

Can You please show me what You have in mind ? I do not think top nav is present in Quark template. Maybe You mean one of it's styles ? Please tell me exactly or show on your site.

I'm sorry - I should have thought to attach some screen shots. I've just changed the code manually as I needed to move forward but the problem does exist as I've had to manually change it each time I've used Quark and the traditional menu setting (where you can actually see it and not just lines).
So whilst the problem still remains, I don't personally need assistance with this now. Thank you.
