Hi, I'm looking for a way to make the parallax effect in Quark less choppy in Internet Explorer and Safari. If there's no solution readily available or any kind of workaround, can you suggest a way to turn-off the parallax effect for these browsers?

Development site:

    Quark v.1.2.0
    PHP Built On Linux
    PHP Version 5.4.41
    Web Server Apache
    WebServer to PHP Interface cgi-fcgi

Hi,

I can confirm the problem:

This problem is not only on this template:
https://www.gavick.com/forums/creative-joomla25/parallax-effect-scrolling-is-jumpy-in-ie-smooth-in-ff-18737

People who don't know, graham555 found a workaround for chrome:

Chrome: Akio smooth scrolling (workaround)
IE: ..... ( no workaround yet)
Safari: ..... ( no workaround yet)

Is this maybe something you searching for? : http://www.edufukunari.com.br/article/best-jquery-plugins-creating-single-page-websites/

I am not a programmer so i can't test it sorry.

Gavick have't yet take this problem serious. I started a topic about this also in quark section 2 months ago.

I hope there will be soon a good workaround so that the quark template can more awesome! :)

Hi

I will ask and let You know. I can see it was moved to a later update because it's connected with issues in browser itself. "Engine cannot process it" as it was called.

To be fair, there is a topic on this forum and was promised almost two months ago to be released.
But i can't find it right now, but I am 100% sure.

I have been really busy so i didn't mind that much. But now i do. The chrome smooth scroll is not good solution.

I dont blame you teitbite, but if the progammers are running in a delay, it is good that the progammers communicate to us.

People are waiting for this. And there are many people they have no clue YETthat this is a isseu for them.

Thanks for helping teitbite I appreciate it!

Hi

I talked to programmers. It's taking more time to fix this, because it's middle of vacations time and only half of the programmers is available at them moment, so they are taking care of crucial bugs and new developments in the first place while this minor things needs to wait. But I was assured no one forgot about this fix and it will be done as soon as time will allow it.

Hi Teitbite,

Thanks for your respond.

But unfortunately this is taken way to long. Since March 16 I reported the bug on Gavick. And till now it is not clear when it will be fixed. There is still no sight of fix in the future. I blame the poor communication to the consumers who bought Quark. As i said before everyone with the Quark template has the problem but not everyone have noticed yet. It is still buggy on chrome and safari. These are the most used browsers.

I have used Quark now along time and it is great but the struggle of buggy scrolling is real and disturbing. And the communication when it will be fixed is really poor and as said no fix in sight yet.

So i ask please provide information for everyone what the problem is and what the progammers will do about and when.

I hope the problem will be taken more serioulsy and after a long time (8 months) there will be soon a update for everyone.

I hope to hear from you soon.

Greets

Sam

Hi

Sorry for that. This must be a very hard task to solve. I can see programmers has changed the script responsible for that functionality couple of times already. Looks like nothing has fixed the problem. I've asked one of the programmers to join discussion. Maybe He will be able to throw some light on it.

Hi

Programmers has this in schedule, but problem is that this will require a lot of work. Basically whole engine for parallax from template will have to be rebuild. When this was created browsers were using different functions and than it was working smoothly, problem appeared over time when browsers advanced. It will be corrected, but unfortunately I cannot tell You when. Sorry.

Hi

I can only say what I see and all I have an access to is a schedule. Unfortunately I have no control over it so can't tell if something will get moved to a different date, sorry. Right now schedule says it will be delivered with next framework update which should be within 2 weeks. But it has a pretty low priority :(

Why can't a progammar join this conversation? Because low priority doesn't sound good at all!

Hi

Most of programmers doesn't even have an access to forum, so they can focus on programming stuff. Please write what You would like me to deliver to them and I'll just paste it to this bug report.

Hi!
Qeustions:

1. Is this problem fixable?
2. What is exactly the problem?
3. Will this be fixed in 3 months?
4. Why is this a "minor" bug? Because it is big part of quark.

Thanks in advance.

Hi

Got an answer. It's short, since I know programmers are working on some JomSocial compatibility issues at the moment.

1. Maybe
2. Browser performance
3. Maybe
4. Problem probably not exists on all safari versions, and most of the normal users probably will ignore it. Additionally Safari and IE currently are not the most popular browsers.

That is really short and lazy answer.

Safari is used on ipad/iphone/macbooks. 30% users on my site using safari
20% are using IE or EDGE

So it is one of the most popular, and if it isn't it does not mean it is not a big problem.

I am going to start a petition. Because this is not the information that i want, and probally will never be fixxed.

Hi

Sorry for that. If I would know how to fix it I would help You, but checking the code, I see it's using the most standard functions so I believe problem is caused because of a browser performance and I personally have no idea what other method to use to achieve the same effect. This is why I depend on our programmers in this particular case.
