Hi guys there seem a problem with my parallax header,

The problem only seems on some pages and especially in chrome.
The home page is shaky for instead and the second page not.

The scrolling on the mouse wheels is shaky and does not run smooth. With the touchpad it still works fine.

Code: Select all
<img class="parallax-img" src="images/demo/hr4.jpg" alt="parallax-img" />
<div class="gkPage">
<h1 data-sr="enter bottom and move 50px">text</h1>
<a class="dark btn-border" href="index.php/link" data-sr="enter bottom and move 50px and wait .3s">text</a> </div>
<span class="mouse-icon"><span><span></span></span></span>

This the code i have used.

Is there is a solution? if you want link i can send it in PM.

And overall the internet explorer has the best experience, why chrome not?

Ps. How can i turn off the avatars in blog (in the comment section) :)

thanks!

Hello,

I have tried it on 2 devices

Macbook 13" OS X Yosemite - chrome - Version: 41.0.2272.89 (64-bit)
Computer 22" Windows 8.1 - chrome - version : 41.0.227289 m (64-bit)

On internet explorer it works great! but chrome does not, on chrome the home page scrolling is really bad but the other pages less.

I've discovered the same issue on my Macbook Pro, but only on it - on Win 8.1 emulated on Parallels and on my Macbook Air I don't see the same problem. In general it seems to be a bug with Chrome rendering engine, because I've checked few other parallax websites and they have similar issues. I suppose that it can be connected with a specific graphic drivers.

Hi again,

Thanks for reply.

But this problem just seem on the home page so why is it only on the homepage?
And second, the quark demo of gavick.com works normal in chrome. I just see the problem on my website.

Any clues?

Demo on quark uses old scripts, demo of quark restaurant uses new scripts and there probably you will see your issue. I've checked this issue with mac mini yesterday and it was working fine, so it must be a bug in Chrome connected with a specific graphic drivers.

Actuaclly the demo of basic and restaurant work fine on both PC'S (macbook and pc).

Like i said it only does not work on an FEW pages of my own site not all pages!
And the home page is the worse, maybe there is a bug in my homepage?

Sorry but I cannot confirm your observation - for me on my browser all parallaxes are slow, on other macs which I've the effect doesn't exist.

I think i found the problem :woohoo:

The problem is only in the classic menu if you the turn to the other menu it works fine!!

So there seems something wrong with the classic menu. I have tried restaurant style with classis menu and same problem!

Any clues?

Unfortunately - for me it works not smooth in both menus - as I wrote it must be something wrong with the new chrome version and graphic drivers what causes issues with some specific layouts and their composition.

I can confirm it is choppy on windows chrome. But with a mouse scroller, if you use the scrollbar, its smooth. It is not choppy on the demo site though. This is on my quark website.

On firefox, it is not choppy using the scroller.

Hello,

I installed the most recent version of the Quark template and also need to work to resolve the choppy parallax affect. I found a 3rd party plugin on the Joomla extension directory called aikon smooth scroll which seemed to resolve the issue in Chrome but not IE. Apparently this is a common issue and not just limited to the Quark template...

I have seen examples of websites with smooth parallax effect in internet explorer such as here so I don't think it is an issue with my video card: http://www.kirupa.com/html5/smooth_para ... olling.htm -- Also, I see the same choppiness on different computers using IE.

I have noticed a few people have raised questions about this issue stretching back a couple years. Is there a clever workaround you can suggest?

Hi graham,

Thanks for the solution for Chrome!! I have tried it on different PC and it runs as smooth as butter on the chrome! WOW this is amazing!! You made my day!

I also tried on IE and the module has NO effect on IE BAD OR GOOD. It is not 100% smooth but is good enough for me.
On safari it has also no effect, safari is less worse then chrome used to be, so that is also not for me problem.

Can the Gavick team confirm that this is a SAFE solution for my website?

Now we can see that chrome is really the issue but it is fixable. So it would be nice if gavick made there own module/fix!

Thanks again graham for sharing!!! :D :) :woohoo: :woohoo:
