adjust wdith and padding of sidebar

hi guys
is it possible to reduce the width and padding on the sidebar? the inbuilt layout template width just squishes my modules, it does not reduce the width of the sidebar at all.
any help would be great!

Please add this code to override.css and make sure override is enabled in template settings.
