Shortcode on Frontpage

I can use shortcodes on any of the sub-pages on the Frontpage, but when I enter a shortcode into the Frontpage parent page, it gets stripped out. Is there something different about how the Frontpage content is presented (excerpt?) than the Frontpage sub-pages?

What shortcode exactly doesn't work? I've checked the Frontpage parent page with default gallery shortcode and it's displayed properly.
