Some problems on starting page

Hello dear Gavick-Team,

I really would like to make my project with the event-template, you made a great job so far!
But I got some troubles with the look of the starting page.

First, I didn't find a way to put a foto in the header-section like in you example. I know you said a lot to that point. I read all topics to this subject in this forum again and again and tried a lot, but nothing worked. Even when I set an URL-link to my foto in template.css it won't. I created a module for the header-section with background-function, like you adviced. The text is visible like it should be, but the background-foto is not shown. Template Override (activated, of course) doesn't work either. It's really kind of a headache to me...

Second (maybe it depends to that ?), the center positioned main navigation on top, which is supposed to be displayed like that only at the subsites, is shown at the starting page, too.

Third, the logo at the starting page is not only displayed in the top center. Also it is shown in the header section left top, which means it is doubled!! No matter if it is shown as my logo or ass your css. Though the function of the switching logo from the center to the left while scrolling the page, works as a charm... I do not want to show same two logos on the starting page.

Last but not least, I didn't find a module-position for the main navigation. Which position shoud I choose? Right now I chosed
"menu 1", but I didn't feel secure with that. Maybe that's the reason why the links from that navigation don't work?

Could you please post an url to your site?

Sorry, I can't, because the site is on a local server (xampp).

But I can say, I just have startet with the site and all template-settings are original so far.
May I send you screenshots of look and settings and/or some particular parts of the scripts?

In override css I put in your recommended following code:

.frontpage #gkHeader {
background: url('../images/stones_sw_unscharf.jpg') no-repeat center top;
}

No effect.

I work with the latest version of joomla 3.3.4

Sorry, but without a live access I an't check what you did wrong. Perhaps you could post the site live somewhere for the time being?

Bt the easiest thing for me is now, to delete the template out from my cms and upload it again - maybe starting brandnew will help ?!?

Well, thank you for your recommandation. In fact I already thought about that, too - but I'm afraid not to be able to manage the installation-process on my local server (xampp), where I usually do everything as long as the website is not finished. Your description only focused on FTP Server Process. But maybe I'll find a tutorial or something like that...

There is no difference, if you were able to install joomla on xampp, quick start is a Joomla installation package with added our content, settings and modules - so proceed as you did with standard Joomla.

after some sleepness nights accordimg to that issue, I wonder that I finally found out that I used joomla version 3.2.3. A look at your website where event-template is offered, I saw that the requirements are jommla version 3.3.

I promised you to give some feedback when I've rebuilt everything after downloading the latest version of event-template. Here it is. I try to give you as detailed information as possible and hope that you really will appreciate. Maybe it will help you to give even better advice to your costumers in that issue...

You wrote, that most of the simplest questions are already on forum and search helps much. Yes, that's great and many thanks for that. Well, believe me, I read everything according to the following issue (again and again and even other threads to find solutions, which tokk me a long time and patience). I'm still in trouble with the template, i fell in love with. I would be sooo pleased, if this love would be replied finally

After reading all the threads I know that this issue probably has nothing to do with individual problems – as a matter of fact it might be something which is unfortunately kind of popular.

For some reasons unfortunately it's impossible to install quickstart-package on local server, which could help (I know). Anyway I prefer building it up empty from the start.

1. I downloaded the latest version of event-template

2. I deleted the joomla-installation, restartet my project with latest version of joomla 3.3.6 (!)

3. I followed your instructions from documentation page step by step, slowly not to forget anything

4. First I created header module with html as you described, choosed a background-picture in module options. Module position „header“.

5. Regarding your live page in subsubmenu “frontpage elements“ under „template“/“typography“ you tell not to remember „to assign the frontpage page suffix for the home page using the Features tab under the template settings.“ But in your documentation of template settings (tab features) you didn't put that in the suffix-section (only „frontpage top1- colorbg“ and k2-stuff). Seems like a contradiction. Anyway I put in a suffix for my header module ID. I'm not sure if that's right done (because you told about a suffix for the „home page“ and not header) ?

6. Logo setting to css style (your logo).

So the installation and the project is very fresh and with almost no content right now.

First thing what appeared in the front end of starting page is your css-logo displayed twice (!). Many people in the forum were worried about that. Although it's displayed like it should be in header section. But: Above the header the mainmenu navigation is displayed - with a second logo. That means, I see the subpage-design of mainmenu and logo right on starting page! It should be visible ONLY at subpages.

If I put instead the logo to image style, same problem with a small difference: my own logo (width 245 px, height 85px) is displayed on top left of the header section instead of beeing in the middle.

Only in setting text style just ONE Text-logo is shown! (not in the header section but as a part of submenu page - as described above).

When scrolling down, that logo jumps to the left and mainmenu reacts like it should be. Beeing on subpages, everything works properly with the css or image-logo/mainmenu navigation.

Again there's no background-picture displayed in header module. Even though I set it up as your told. Whatever I try, nothing seems to work. I followed your advices in this forum:

I used override css and created new file and uploaded new background image to:
/templates/gk_events/images/my-headerbg.jpg

Doesn't work.

I edited : /templates/gk_events/css/override.css and add at its end (enabling override in template setting) :

.frontpage #gkHeader {
background: url('../images/my-headerbg.jpg') no-repeat center top;
}

Doesn't work either.

I put your recommended suffix to a html-module in top1 position (top1-colorbg). Doesn't work.

My created Venue-, Sponsors- and FAQ-Modules (with other content of course) work like a charm - great!!! I love it.

Is it possible that the problems have something to do with the suffix to frontpage??? How does it work? Can you describe the case exactly please?

I strongly hope that my report is detailed enough. My Browser the latest version of firefox.

I kindly ask you for advice again - can you please, please, please help me? URL is not possible, because site of course is not live yet.

Trying to reproduce your problems without seeing live site is just impossible.
Perhaps you could post it somewhere temporary - only this way I can check what is missing.

If it goes to the logo issue - usually creating smaller logo helps. The other thing is to restrict logo size in sticky header with use of width and height only for that element in css override.

Finally I got it! It looks amazing, everything like it should...

Plaese forgive me, of course my fault. As suspected it had something to do with the page-suffixes in template feature settings.
Maybe it will help others: Item ID of starting page means the item ID of the mainmenu entry "home" (the first page to be seen).

Now I'm looking forward working with this great template.
