Logo svg - fails when editing

Hi there
Can anybody give me a little hand. I need to change the text of the original logo, from EVENT to MF. Same size, same font, but MF centred.

Every time I try to edit the logo.psd - save it as png. open it in illustrator and save it as svg, it look terrible (to small, no rounding,and placed wrongly on the page)....
I`ve attached the png file, how it should look..

Edit original svg logo in illustrator.
Using psd and saving to png makes the logo bitmap not vector. Then opening in illustrator makes things even worse as illustrator is a vector based software, as .svg format.

Did as you said.
edit the org svg logo in Illustrator.
The logo is now small, witout effect, wrong font, and sitting in the middle of the page...

It must be something within the process of modifying and saving new logo. I can't open you file in illustrator, and on the preview it is much smaller than the original logo. Please check again the process again.

Have now repeted the conversion 2 times, but the result is the same....
Can you help ?

Which Illustrator version do you use?
