Change width of header_left

Changing the width of header_left in the layouts tab of gk_university from 77% to 37% proportionately changes the width of header_right (it gets much wider). Is it possible to reduce the width of header_left to about 1/2 the size it is at 77% without increasing the width of header_right?

Only with manual css overrides.
