v3.15 or 3.17.1 - Which works best w JomSocial

Guys, I've recently applied a JomSocial patch on my live community site which caused the site to lose some functionality. JomSocial claims it's a template issue, so I'm trying to figure out which Gavick theme would work best with JomSocial v3.2.1.6. The site currently has University theme 3.15

I created a new staging site to test JomSocial v4 and this site is utilizing University theme 3.17.1 but there are some layout and display issues that are obvious, so I'm waiting for updated University theme but in the mean-time, do you think the problems I have will be resolved if I update the University theme on live site from 3.15 to 3.17.1?

We are working with update for University and JS4 but please describe your founded issues - it is a large component and probably you could find some different issues than we.

I've updated the Joomla University theme to v3.17.1 today so guess the topic / question is moot (no pun intended, lulz)

I will start documenting anything I can and provide it as I come across it, yes, it's a HUGE component and looking forward to settling on a stable build version such as 4. I believe most of the issues I've seen are JomSocial related, not University theme, but thank you for the reply. Guess we will be upgrading to JS version 4 today, based off your offer regarding circ avatars (thank you BTW).

It honestly looks like there's more respect / control regarding the JomSocial (v4) integration in the older University template. I've started a list of issues regarding layout, but for the most part... none of the JomSocial Theme Designer elements are respected in the layout of the v3.17.1 University template.

Activity stream Left vs. Right
Module positions (left / right)
JomSocial colors (theme designer)
CSS styles within modules

Main theme background image tiles / repeats in 3.15 which is nice... has repeat on either side and one image repeated underneath which helps to utilize the "white space" on a given page, etc. etc.

I feel like I could spend countless hours documenting the things that are wrong with the "newer" University theme... kinda frustrating, I'd rather prefer spending time actually developing our site vs. hunting for and documenting problems.

Any timeline on a solid University template release for v4 of JomSocial?

none of the JomSocial Theme Designer elements are respected in the layout of the v3.17.1 University template.

Because we have never supported it and we have no plans to support it - the only way to apply changes is the jomsocial.css file in our template.

Ohhh... I see....that's unfortunate. Do you have any plans on updating the joomla University theme to actually be compatible with JomSocial v4, or is Gavick (as a whole) only working on WordPress stuff now?

Could you kindly assist in making the tabs look more like tabs on the JomSocial Frontpage for v3.17.1 then? I've included a screenshot of both versions of University theme as reference.

For whatever it's worth, we wouldn't expect Gavick to support a 3rd party developer such as JomSocial...

what is odd is the fact that the JomSocial v4 Theme Designer elements are respected (work) in the basic Joomla default templates such as Protostar, Beez, and Atomic, as well as in Gavicks' older v3.15 University template for joomla. It's hard to understand why, all of a sudden, these JomSocial 4 Theme Designer elements are not respected (do not function) in Gavicks latest 3.17.1 University theme...nor are there plans for it to function...
