Cart button in menu

I am finishing up implementing a highly customized version of the ticketmaster component with University. The ticketmaster component does not have a cart "button" like many carts... I am wondering... I added a "cart" button to the main menu and wrote a class for it to look like the "Login/My Account" button.

I am wondering, just like the Login/My Account changes when you're logged in, do you guys have any input on how to make the cart say "Cart Empty" and "View Cart" depending on whether or not the there is something in the cart. I am having trouble with the logic on those buttons.

Does this fall outside of the scope of forum support?

This component ( Ticketmaster ) is not free so you truly need to ask this in their support as we don't have access to code.
Basically you need to know the code to be able to check if cart is empty or not then edit template files to display empty cart text or link to view cart depending on condition result.
