Date format in Events list on frontpage

I'm having problems with the date format in the Events list on the frontpage of the University template.

In your screenshots of the frontpage one can see that the Events NSP module shows the Day + <small>Month + daynumber</small> (like in the itemview, and like it should do).
In my Joomla3 (on a localhost) version however I get only the Day on the frontpage (but in the itemview itself the Day+Month+Daynumber). What could be the problem? And how (in which files) could I solve this? With only showing the day, the events module does not make sense on a frontpage.
