Displaying Products from Child categories

Hey,

I have the following structure in categories under virtumart
Category 1 (no products)
-Sub Category 1a (4 products)
-Sub Category 1b (5 products)
-Sub Category 1c (2 products)

what i want to do is that when i create a menu item with category 1, it should load all the products from the sub categories.
at present it shows the sub categories only and no products.

please help.

What are You using to show this products ? Are we talking about module not showing it or a category layout of Virtuemart component ? If its the first case than make sure all the categories are selected, not only the parent one.

If You mean VM layout, than I"m not VM expert, but I'm guessing they prepared separate layouts for category and categories view. "category view" should show products, "categories" should show subcategories.
