How to show no products in Virtuemart category?

Hi:
I know you are not Virtuemart experts; but I have searched all the vm forums for an answer and I can't find one, so I thought someone might know:
I want to show no (zero!) products in a particular category. How to do it?
- the vm configuration sets the default "Initial number of listed items" for every category.
- in a category you can change this; you can set override to any number of items: 1, 2, 3... but not zero.
- the tooltip says "leave empty to use the system defaults", but if you enter 0 this is the same as "leave empty".
If anybody can help I will be eternally appreciative.

I see only two options:
1) Choose VM category which don't have products
2) Hide all products using CSS ans menu item suffix

I will try to use css as you suggest. Problem is that there are many vm categories under a single Joomla menu. I will try to figure something out. It is strange that virtue mart will not let me show 0 products?!

VM always was strange/weird software. So I don't use it any more for coupes of years.
