Follow up on VirtueMart for Joomla 3.x

Hello,

This is a follow up on the forum topic "VirtueMart 3".

Since the StoreFront was created before the VirtueMart 3 was released:

Does the QuickStart Kit of the StoreFront Joomla 3.x version not have any VirtueMart modules and other extensions?
If so, has anyone (including Gavick Pro developer and staff) tried to integrate the VirtueMart 3 version into the StoreFront Joomla 3.x version? And if someone did, what was the outcome?

I would be interested to see some sites, and I would be grateful if those who tried share their experience.

The eCommerce templates, with the VirtueMart extension must be among the more popular templates sought by many Gavick templates users. I hope the December template would highlight an eCommerce with VirtueMart extension (modules, components, etc.)

However, even without a new template altogether, I like the StoreFront template quite a bit - it is very clean and quite aesthetically elegant in its layout and presentation. My Christmas wish is that Gavick Pro developers would have an update of the StoreFront template with the VirtueMart 3 extension included in the QuickStart kit for StoreFront template (Joomla 3.x)

Hello,

We will work to prepare the VM3 supported versions of the ecommerce template as soon as possible. I hope that 2 first templates with VM3 support and NSP GK5 with VM3 support will be available at the end of this month, but currently I cannot promise anything.

Hello Dziudek,

do you have any news regarding the availability of the storefront template with css for virtuemart? I have already installed VM3 on a J3-Instalation with Storefont...but can not yet apply the nice storefront layout to my site. :-( Thank you for response...

@Evomaster - currently I'm finishing the NSP GK5 support for VM3 - I hope that tommorow it will be available. The Storefront template support for VM3 is in progress and I think that it will be available before Christmas.

That soon... Sounds great! It would be even greater :) if you would release a quickstart package with J3 & VM3 (no hikashop) as well!
This would be a christmas present to me...

That will be great dziudek!

I like the StoreFront layout. Would it be possible to get a QuickStart with it also?

I deferred creating a new eCommerce site until there is a new VM3 template, especially the StoreFront. It is one of your best and cleanest layout.

After installing the quickstart package I got the following error opening the frontend:
1146
Table 'database.ebs_virtuemart_categories_de_de' doesn't exist SQL=SELECT DISTINCT c.virtuemart_category_id AS CID FROM ebs_virtuemart_product_categories AS cx LEFT JOIN ebs_virtuemart_categories_de_de AS c ON cx.virtuemart_category_id = c.virtuemart_category_id LEFT JOIN ebs_virtuemart_products_de_de AS content ON cx.virtuemart_product_id = content.virtuemart_product_id LEFT JOIN ebs_virtuemart_categories AS cat ON c.virtuemart_category_id = cat.virtuemart_category_id WHERE ( c.virtuemart_category_id = 9 OR c.virtuemart_category_id = 14 OR c.virtuemart_category_id = 12 )
It appears the page you were looking for doesn't exist. Sorry about that.
--------------------------------

In addition there are no virtuemart sample products in the database (only hikashop). I don't use hikashop, so how to get the quickstart to work with virtuemart3?

btw: The Virtuemart AIO component included in the quickstart is not up to date and should be v3.0.2 as well

I found the cause. Disable the module gk5 "New" and the site works.
Maybe the gk5 needs a fix...

Please install quickstart as an english version - then all will work properly (and all producst will be visible). Then please switch to german. I afraid that new vm has a big issue with multilanguage support - I will analyze this issue soon.

Thanks dziudek!

Are the given links below for the Quickstart Kits? Are the links in the Main download link for StoreFront updated to incorporate the changes you provided? I can see the VM modules in the QuickStart 3.x kit so is it safe to assume these modules include your changes?

Also, in the Update, you stated "Please replace these files..."
where do we get those files listed? From the latest Gavick StoreFront or the respective Joomla and VM files?or from the "gk_storefront_J!3.zip"

We appreciate your taking the time to do this.

You're right. The english version works fine. But installing another language later and switching to it results to the error mentioned.
Good to see that I can start preparing the items for my shop. I guess there will be a language fix soon :)

These links are for the download area for Storefront template which contains all files - quickstarts and template packages - all contains changes for adding the VM3 support.

These files can be found in the template package - gk_storefront_J!3.zip.

After testing a bit with a english joomla I changed a setting in the module tab-new. My site crashed with the following error:
1064
You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near ')' at line 18 SQL=SELECT DISTINCT c.virtuemart_category_id AS CID FROM z62u1_virtuemart_product_categories AS cx LEFT JOIN z62u1_virtuemart_categories_en_gb AS c ON cx.virtuemart_category_id = c.virtuemart_category_id LEFT JOIN z62u1_virtuemart_products_en_gb AS content ON cx.virtuemart_product_id = content.virtuemart_product_id LEFT JOIN z62u1_virtuemart_categories AS cat ON c.virtuemart_category_id = cat.virtuemart_category_id WHERE ( )

What can I do to bring the site back? Changing the setting to the originell setting doesnt change anything.

Changed "Data source/Source of articles" to HikaShop Categories and the frontend is back. But with the current version the template is useless for Virtuemart 3 and websites outside US/GB.
I hope you can fix the language-problems so the template can be used as it should. Do you stay in contact with the VM-guys?

@Adamik - I've updated the quickstarts and I've prepared a tutorial: http://www.gavick.com/documentation/joo ... quickstart - currently there is no needs to replace the VirtueMart 3 database tables suffix - it is set automatically during the installation. The only additional step is installing the additional languages.

With the latest package it works fine! Thanks for the fast support!

Could you please check multiple images for one product at your installation?
I added a new product in VM and set up 3 images for that. In frontend the main image is shown fine and the zoom works as well. But when I click on the other available images nothing happens. The main image is shown anyway.

Hi Adamik,

Was there a revision of the latest QuickStart Kit for the J3.x of the StoreFront, more recently, i.e., after 20141224? [I will download the latest, if there are any revisions after 20141224.

And when you state, "With latest package, it works fine!..."

Do you mean, it works now also with other languages?

Yes, they changed something within the quickstart package and now it works with another language then english if you install it during the initial installation process and select your language as default right away. Check the installation notes dziudek mentioned... http://www.gavick.com/documentation/joo ... quickstart

@Adamik - your issue is in fact a bug in VirtueMart 3 - when fancybox is disabled, then the script for facebox is not properly written. My solution - enforce usage of the fancybox script on the product page independently from the VM3 settings. Then the image switching works perfectly. I didn't noticed this issue earlier, because I've switched to facebox after implementing the product gallery. I don't recommend to enable fancybox globally, because their popups while user buys a product are not so nice as in facebox.

For fix the issue please replace file html/com_virtuemart/productdetails/default_images.php in the template directory with the attached one.

Is facebox a plugin made by gavick? If there is a problem or a bug due to the new version the VM-guys will work on it for sure. Did you inform them about the issue?
