part of dropdown menu is not there

I am making a site with two languages in Joomnla 3.
I am using Storefront as template.
In the first language Dutch I have a menu with 3 headings, and the last heading has a large submenu-list. This works as a drop-down list.
I copied the template for the 2e language English. I remade the menu. One menu-heading is Dutch only, so the English menu has two headings. The last has also a large drop-down menu. This menu does not present the first 4 menu-items, and also not the last 4 menu-items. They are there: you can see them in a menu in de sidebar position, but they are not presented in the drop-down.
I looked and tried lots of things (rebuild the menu f.i.) but it stubbornly stays like this.

What am I doing wrong?

Did as you asked.
Today went to check the site. Tried to re-order the English menu-items: they were not in the same order as the Dutch menu-items before, I ordered them the same now. This however only changed which specific items were not present in the drop-down list, not the number that were left out, that is still the same.
So still in trouble.

Well: self-help did it.
I remade all the menu items that were not presented in the drop-down menu. All new items were presented. So I deleted the old ones.
Still no idea what made them behave like they did.

Great. I was consulting with programmers, because I had no idea either. Unfortunately they have not see such problem before so have not answered me yet. So I believe recreating menu was the best solution. It was probably just some joomla glitch. I hope it will not happen again.
