quickstart package and Translation issue

Hi,

I installed the quick install package which includes the english version of Wordpress. I have tried to translate the frontend "taxanomy" (blog items such as "Written by" as well as text in contact form fields and so on) from English to Swedish since it will be a swedish website. I have tried a few translation plugins but everything still remains in english. I have translated themes before and it normally works OK with localization plugins. Could you advice on how to translate it so it can be used for non-English websites?

PS Can I somehow install the swedish version of wordpress to my host and add the demo site of John to it? DS

Do you want to translate the frontent, right? please check this tutorial:

You can install the swedish version of WP and then install only John theme files (not the quickstart, because quickstart is a WP installation with our theme and all content), but in this case you'll have to import content/settings, and widgets you'll have to configure manually, following this configuration page:

Yes, it worked out well. the only thing is I had huge issues with translating the meta files. If someone else has this challenge, many of those terms were located in the wp-includes/comment template file (in which I searched for terms like "Leave a reply" "Comment" and so on and replaced them with the Swedish terms).

These strings come from WordPress core files, so you have to translate the wordpress, not only the theme, what exactly problem do you have with the wordpress translation?Did you check this plugin? https://wordpress.org/plugins/codestyling-localization/
