Hello,

I am looking to have the same layout for "category items" and "category listing".

When browsing your john's demo under Blog/Categories, we get an item list in a catalog layout.

Is it possible to get the same layout for a category "listing" ?

So far instead of getting the nice catalog layout, I get an ugly list of category on the left all stacked up in one column aligned on the left.

Much Appreciated.
Regards

Hello quebecguitare,

I was looking for a solution to do the same & the following helped me achieve it. See if this works for you.

1. Create a Menu title (eg: Works/anything that you want) and Menu Item Type should be "Latest items from (one or more) users or categories" in K2.

2. Go to the "Options" tab in the Menu title creation window & set the content source to either Categories or Users (based on the way you're data is stored) from the "Content Source" section. Set the number of cols & max number of items as per your requirements.

3. If you selected 'categories' as the content source, then scroll down in the same options tab and you'll find a "Category Settings" option. Select the categories you want using the button there (click to select one or more categories).

4. Modify the other settings in the "Options" tab as per your requirements!

Hope this helps :)

Regards!

Hello Munawaar, thank you very much for your kind help!

I am moving forward with the information you provided.

The problem I have now is that I cannot seems to apply my custom category template layout to this menu item page where the item are shown.

I select the correct template in the menu item but it doesn't have any effect on the item view in the K2Container section. These items are the one fetched under the numerous category I selected for my view.

Please have a look at the snippet in attachment.

Regards.

Hi quebecguitare,

I didn't quite get the issues you have. Is it that the menu item you created is not following the K2 categories layout or is it that the K2 articles / items you selected in the data source are not appearing in the page?

Could you please post a screenshot of the problem?

Regards.

Sorry I didn't explain properly. Apologies.

Correction: no items are being fetched under the menu item created for "Latest Item..". Only category, which is what we wanted. So everything is fine so far.

I just want to customize the view of that menu item. Like we customize with a custom template a category item view. In other words, the listed category, can we reorganize the general layout?

Regards.

Hi Quebecguitare,

Sorry but I've got no clues about this.

But based on your requirement, you could try and work with the News Show Pro GK5 module. You've much better options there to show a fixed / variable number of items, their arrangement according to date/title/id, categorise your items, etc.

Sorry couldn't help you with the exact thing!

Good luck.

Regards.
