New Items not appearing

Just getting started with this template from quickstart...
How do I get new items to show up on GK News Show?
I created a new K2 Item, but it doesn't appear in the "Hot Works" or "Blog" areas on the homepage. If I select one of the other Items, my new item shows up on the next page (which I assume is the blog).

Please check NSP configuration - it selects items from specific category, sometime offsets selected elements (not displaying newest one).
The other possible reason is the cache - try unpublishing one of currently displayed articles and check if it will disappear.
