Create my own logo - how to change it?

Hi, somewhere here I've already seen the point that if we want logo to change from one on Header to the other on Menu, it've gotta be .svg file. But I realize that it is not about file format, it's programmed somewhere to read that. The question is what would be the best way to revert it back *.png? I've tried to create my own logo in Illustrator or DRAW!, but can't make it work. I'd rather go back to png, instead of learning one more standard...

you will find more info about svg also.
p.s.
You can always use this same logo twice - just changing extension name manually.
