On the K2 category there is a checkmark to disable the (0), but this doesn't work for me.
And for the image, i can easily add a new image, but i have no clue how to remove this default thumb.

Any idea how to remove the folder image and the indication of the amount of articles in the category.

Actually it looks more like Joomla / K2 related article - it would be better if you would ask it on their support forum.
