On the front page the "Sidebar Left" module type "mod_news_pro_gk5" moves to the complete bottom when viewing on mobile. This module is important to our layout. How can we make it stay the first item item viewed on mobile?

Mobile site has only 320 px of width. Putting elements in columns will not help - it will make the content so small it will not be readable.
On the other side - switching elements might be possible but would require template core files modification and some custom css redesign.
