Social API on Article page

Hi,

We have 500 Likes and 150 Shares for an article posted on Facebook. However, on our website, the Social API shows only 16 Likes for the same article and no Share count !!?

I would like to know how does Social API works on Article page?

Number of likes on facebook shared page sadly doesn't equal to number of likes on article itself. Facebook treats them as a separate things.
