We just deployed our new site and in Chrome, Firefox and IE 9 and 10 (not IE 11 or Safari) are getting odd replacement symbols and characters on the menu pulldown down arrows, in the search bar and top right of the menu bar (our Google+, FB and Twitter images are replaced by C I B). Also the letter a is replacing the "..." bubble for comments under our bottom three menu items. See screencaps below. Site is nwcatholic.org.

Also, this issue seems to happen intermittently. Sometimes the page appears normal and sometimes it has the odd characters.

We have now dicovered that the symbols appear in all browsers if the www is omitted from the URL.
We have added a rule to the .htaccess file to make sure the URL is alwaysd redirected to the full URL containing the www.
The correct icons now render in all browsers. Do you know if this is a known issue or why this would be happening?
