Removing the search and highlight module will break the menu

I noticed that when disabling the search and hightligher (news) modules my main menu will disappear if you scroll down and then up again.

How can I overcome this?

I am also facing the same issue while testing this template. Hope there will be tweak for this.

Wow, I was going crazy trying to figure out why my menu broke. Thanks for this post. I would also like a solution to this since I have those modules disabled.

Have been several past reports of this bug, many hacks made by users and the response that Gavick fixed that .. but the problem continues.
I wonder what the difficulty of Gavick that has yet to fix this bug???
