I have a fix for trashed items. Please replace file mod_highlighter_gk5/gk_classes/gk.source.k2.php with this one:

Now I'm gonna report the other issue

Unfortunatly it did not work.
After uploading your php script my website was completely blank. I checked for error log in my home and got:
[29-Nov-2014 09:50:24 Europe/Berlin] PHP Fatal error: Call to undefined method JUser::authorisedLevels() in /home/xxxxxx/public_html/modules/mod_highlighter_gk5/gk_classes/gk.source.k2.php on line 133

Hi

For now I commented this troubled line out so module can work. Will tell that to programmers as well.

I upgraded the template to version 3.15 and kept the old working gk.source.k2.php, now Highlighter works correctly: it does not show trashed articles and after clicking arrows you are able to click on links.
Hope it will continue with such behaviour. :-)

Hi

Ok. Thank You for this information. I'm guessing this was because of an older jQuery version being used and template update corrected it.
