Hello,

I have installed template NEWS2 v.3.11.3 for Joomla 2.5 quickstart package.

When I try to install the component Virtuemart, the installation ends unsuccessfully.
I try instal versions 2.6.0, 2.6.0a and 2.6.6 with the same results:
- Component Install: DB function reports no errors
- Error installing component

I tried the same instalation thing in the older template NEWS and and here was the successful installation - it is therefore not caused by the settings of web hosting.

It could be somehow resolved or will I have to install it clean install of Joomla and then install only the modules and template from Gavick?

thank you for answers

Hi

Quickstart is a clean joomla with just additional modules compressed all together. There should be no problems installing any extra extentions. Please check if there is a sufficient space on server and in permissions to /tmp folder are correct.

Hello,
it is not problem with installing others components in general.

I install there components as AcePolls, Phoca Gallery, Xmap, Eventlist and some moduls. Problem is only with Virtuemart.
With space is not problem and also permissions to /tmp folder are correct.

I try install it again on another place nad I have same problem - unable install the component Virtuemart.

Do You have any answer for me?

I tried just to make sure new installation for template NEWS2 v.3.11.3 for Joomla 2.5 quickstart package on another webhosting.

I just unwrapped your install, not install anything else and I tried to install the component Virtuemart.
Installation ended with error again.

This is screen image:

I think the quickstart package NEWS2 has some mistake, because with the other templates (eg older NEWS) is not problem with installation the component Virtuemart.

Hi

Sorry, but I have no idea. Please send me an access to joomla panel I'll make some tests by myself.

You should also ask VM developers for this issue, maybe they already know the answer.

Hi,

I found a mistake in your template NEWS2 for Joomla 2.5, which makes it impossible to install components Virtuemart.

In the quickstart package are some residues after unsuccesfull uninstall component Virtuemrat and VirtueMart Aio extension.

After many attempts I was able to remove these residues and then the installation component Virtuemart was successful.

If you would like more details, I like these details tell a reward next GavickPro Membership ;)

Hi

Hehe. Would be nice if we have such rewards, but as far as I know VM can be installed even over an existing copy and residues are there to make sure all data entered during having VM installed is kept. I believe Your problem was there because of wrong file permissions so new files could not overwrite the old one. Hard to tell without checking it, but I tried with a copy News2 on my computer and it worked, do I really have no idea.

Hi,

rights to the folders are definitely set correctly.
It is no true, that VM installation is always without problems, when there are some residues after previous unsuccessful uninstall/install.

There is link: http://docs.virtuemart.net/tutorials/30-installation-migration-upgrade-vm-2/98-possible-virtuemart-installation-problems.html, that helped me solve a problem with the installation of VM.

In database tables *_extensions and *_assets were entries from some previous installation VM. Also in language folders were languages *.ini files from previous installation VM.

After after cleaning these residues is instalation VM successful.

I still do not qualify for the reward? ;)
