Hi,
it request some job.
but the more important is - if you really need those buttons.
e-mail - from my stats nobody used it, only spammers robots (!)
print - maybe ~3% of users.
About text links not icons - it's how that template was build. Adding icons request using few lines of css or customization of article view.
