Where is the frontend "New" button and "Edit" buttons?

In protostar, when I go to a category page, I can see the "+ New" button that allows me to add new articles from the front end. Similarly, I can also see the "edit" button under action drop-down in the article page for front page editing. But I cant see these buttons in the Game template. I am logged in as Super User and I have all the permissions to edit or create any articles. Why isint these buttons showing in this template? Am I supposed it enable this somewhere in the template settings? (I am using the core Joomla's content categories and not K2).

Hi bkrztuk, Its 3.3. It is the Joomla version that was included in your quickstart package that I downloaded yesterday. When I change the style to protostar, I can see these options. It only doesnt show when I use the game template.
