Default image for K2 articles

Is it possible to display a default image (for example the default category image) in an K2 article when a user has not attached an image to the content?

by default there is not possible. You have to customize code of K2.
Probably it can be made by checking procedure (guide for your php developer)

User add new K2 item
and add image ---> save & publish (OK)
FALSE
---> he didn't add image ---> choose & use default image from ABC source for K2 item

Second solution,
make adding image as a necessary to save the article --- also you need php developer.

My temporary solution:
User add new K2 item -> a moderator needs to check the item before publishing and adds a possible missing picture
