Custom pages not working if k2 is used

I like using k2 for content management but ran into an issue where custom pages such as FAQ don't function properly if content is in k2 item rather than joomla article.

I've realized tabs-state.js and tabs.js aren't loading on k2 pages and have tried calling them by including them on all pages by adding the call to "layouts > blocks > head.php" but it still didn't work.

is it possible to have custom pages work within k2 items?
