Is it possible to use this gallery feature on different pages via shortcode? or any othe alternate methods?

I wish to place it on my homepage and i have enabled widgets on the homepage also

Unfortunately it's not possible - you can use this gallery only on pages and there's no shortcode. We are going to improve this gallery in the future, but now there's no alternate methods.

Can you reccomend a slider that works well with your themes?

Generally, there's no recommended slider, you have to test some slider and choose the best for you:
