When editing the basic settings for a GK Grid Title Overlay I can see you can use a custom post type as an option.
How do I go about creating a custom post type to use?

Essentially, is it possible to give a post a custom post type that can act like a 'Sticky Post', in order to make only specific posts show up in the GK Grid (instead of latest post or slugs)? If so how would I go about doing this?

Thanks

Hello,

Please check the documentation about custom post types:
http://codex.wordpress.org/Post_Types
you can also use plugin to create own custom post types:
https://wordpress.org/plugins/types/

so you can create your own post type and display them in GK Grid TItle overlay instead of latest posts or slug, but it is really necessary? GK TItle overlay can display only one post and you can use latest post with the offset option or just post slug to display only this one post which you want to display.

Thank you for your feedback.

I would prefer it if the process was automated, so my client doesn't have to go into the widgets area and manually input the slug of a specific post.

It would be nice if they could essentially tick 'Sticky Post' and that one got pinned to the GK Grid (and act like a featured post), which is my reasoning behind asking if the Custom Post Type data source could be used in this way. Does this make sense?

I understand, in this case that make sense I think, but by default you can't set custom post type item as featured.

You can e.g. create custom post type: Featured or ForGrid and use this cusotm post type as a source for GK Title Overlay widget, so if your client will want to add new item to the grid, he'll create Featured custom post instead of default one. It should works properly.
