Full width top header

Hi guys, I need to extend the very top header of the page to full width and I don't know how. Can you please tell me If this can be done?
I also attached an image just to be more clear of what I want to do.

Probably you have to use bigger images or just more images etc...

Thanks but i want to extend only the grey stripe (with the logo and menu) to full width. The Grid and the rest has to remain as it is.

There is a "small" problem because whole layout is inside block with defined max-width.
Is not separated like in other websites .... so it request lots of customization job , so you have two options:
1) Choose another template
2) Add background image with bar - with height similar to menu bar,
