J3.2 update not working

I tried multiple times, always with the same result: after update the front-end just shows white BG with site name and an empty drop-down in the browser's top left corner...

- site backend still working
- site run on 3.1.5 fine
- before Joomla 3.2 update I updated the GK modules (Tabs 5 and News Show Pro 5) and also the template, all to the latest "3.2 compatible" versions
- update went smooth and showed "success" in the backend
- all on a hosting environment (Rochen) where I never had any issues and other sites run fine

Any suggestions?

(interim) UPDATE:

I did a few more checks to see what is happening when the site breaks when being updated to J3.2 and it looks that not the template is the issue but rather a 3rd party component (EasyDiscuss). I am checking this further and will post another update here in case future users would see similar issues.

CONFIRMED: it was indeed a problem with the EasyDiscuss component which has an issue with J3.2.

Very odd though that updates from J3.o to 3.1.x were painless, now with J3.2 there are all of a sudden compatibility issues...

That said, has all nothing to do with the template ;)
