I'd like to use the same menu structure for all my pages, but the link to e.g. About takes you to the About section of the front page only when you're already on the front page. From other pages it tries to find a #gkBottom1 on the page you're on, rather than on the home page. Is there a way to make it work, outside of hardwiring the URLs?

You can use external url menu item type and type in the url manually and add the hashtag at the end.

Full website link to where #aboutus anchor is located: http://www.mywebsite.com/news/firstnews/#aboutus

So instead of having: #aboutus
You would have: /news/firstnews/#aboutus

See you around...

Thanks Norman, that's what I meant by hardwiring the URLs. I was hoping there would be a way to avoid that, so that I can copy the site more easily between test servers, the production server, and test branches on the production server.

Well hashtags are not part of joomla as it is a link to a div element so there isn't anyway other then manually writing them.
