Slow loading homepage

Hi,

Working in my new site on test.madonna.nl.
I did a test on http://tools.pingdom.com/fpt to check the speed and my homepage is loading very slowly...
Perf. grade 69/100
Load time 6.50s (that's too long!)
Page size 3.4MB

What is wrong? Other pages from my site are loading OK.

If I look at the list from items that are loaded, there are loads of K2 cache items loaded which you don't see on the homepage.

It you know this tool have also others tabs where you can read what elements loading so slow,
might be that template is not guilty but others elements like images.

On my browser it took less than 3 sec to load HomePage, the only delay I had with slideshow and I think this module or his content needs to be optimized.

Thanks for the info! Yes, also for me it is the slideshow that takes most time I think. But if I optimize the content (read: the pictures) the quality goes down... any suggestions? I'm also gonna read the 2 links you provided

Mmm strange... if I look at the Nieuws module (News Show Pro GK5) the thumbnails information is filled as 400 x 250.
Where can I adjust the 347x217 settings? I don't see those number in this module...

ad 2) This is not module settings he takes photo size from K2 settings, so probably if you will reduce size there images will be a little bit smaller..and you will save ~40-60kb ..but if will not help a lot.

Do you know something else? When I look at the results from pingdom.com I also see a lot of K2 pictures loaded on the homepage (probably from News Show Pro), but those pics are not shown on the homepage. Nieuws en Buitenlands nieuws have each 6 items. Why are more pictures being loaded?

Honestly, I have no idea.
The only way to find it, is to disable module one by one, and check which one makes so "noise".
