Homepage gradient

Hi,

I really like Storebox template and I'm using it on the website of one of my clients.
I tried to remove the header gradient because of the slideshows/photos we want to put in the homepage that are not well displayed with it because usually there is, as in the photo in example, the face of the client.

Is there a way to keep the gradient only on the menu items (because if I remove it completely menu items are not visible) or what do you suggest to do?

or maybe it's another way.
1) Disable/delete header gradient
2) Add transparent background color only for menu.
Example red background:
