After installation of Storebox I can see that there's an update for VirtueMart. Is it safe to make an update assuming the template has some connections with VM? What should I be careful about?
Do you guys practise some safe procedures like backup of website using Akeeba backup before starting an update?

It important to not update VM, as we didn't release templates compatible with new VM :).

Joomla updates usually don't change anything in html rendering. We override some of standard html rendering templates, so updating Joomla in 99% cases want break the site. With VM, its different, as they change html rendering even between subversions (eg 2.0.22a, 2.0.22c), and those come out quite often, so we advice to wait for next template update and check info with which VM version it is compatible.
