can't choose first generic child variant of the list

i finally set a 2 level child product cart.

the problem is that i had to create fake child products with property "stock" set to zero (so can't be add to cart)
and also give them ordering=1 (i gave 2,3,4,... to the other real products)
so that the fake products are shown first in the dropdown list.

this is because i noticed that first elements of dropdown list can't be selected!

example: for generic child variant "color" i created child products called "choose a color","black","white","green",... the "choose a color" is shown first in the list so it doesn't matter if it can't be selected when i reach the page where i have to select the color!

is that a usual problem workaround or it can be done in a proper way??? thanks

the problem is that first options of the list can't be selected, so i had to create fake child products!

in addition to this as i started working on child products i lost the template hover animation for products on the frontpage...

i'm still working localhost so can't give access to my site.

I've checked screenshots but it looks like this question has to be asked to VM developers. We only make a style for VM to match the template. We have not changed anything in it's functionality. I thought problem was more of a styling matter. I did not understood You at first.

you're right, i'm asking to them about it. but i lost the hover animation on the front page for vm products. that was so cool! i don't know why i lost it.

Don't You have a live ite so I'll be able to just take a look on the hover problem ? I cannot install Your site right now, becuase I just moved to the new server and administrator went on vacations without giving me an access to new sever

i checked just now: i lost the hover animation beacause i'm using a Tabs GK5 module type in mainbody position instead of the default News Show Pro GK5 type. I can see also that tabs are not responding properly... I'll think about that after i'll be done with vm2 issues, thank you very much!
