can mainmenu position be split

I would like to publish an image across the website that appears to the right of the mainmenu. I've worked with templates in the past that can be configured to split a module position and control the width of each side of the split but I'm not sure how to do that here. Any guidance would be appreciated on how I might accomplish this.

In our templates menu is an integrated element, not a module which can be placed in module position. So You need to explain me how would You like to have it, so I'll advice something. But I'm afraid it can be beyond our support if customisation will be too big.
