Hi,
I am trying to modify the Simplicity template by using the Simplicity-Child theme, and I can not make any changes using this approach.

First, I tried to modify the size of the <h1> header text using the style.css located in the Simplicity-Child directory. I added in code to change the h1 style in style.css, activated the Simplicity-Child template, but this had no affect to the website.

Second, I tried to modify the background image in the header section, by copy/pasting the template.css into the Simplicity-Child directory, but no changes I made to the template.css had an affect on the website. I referenced a previous post https://www.gavick.com/forums/simplicit ... 24216.html, but this didn't help.

Please let me know the steps I need to follow to utilize the Simplicity-Child theme.

Thank you.

Hi,

If you want to override any file in the Child theme, then please reproduce the structure in the Child Theme. So in example to override the css/template.css file, you should create the css directory in the Child theme and then copy the original template.css file to this directory - then you can apply your changes. Remember that you can also use the override.css file if it is activated - then you haven't to copy the whole files to the Child Theme.

The style.css file is not working, because it is placed in the Child Theme only for the compatibility purpose - this file isn't loaded in the theme.

More details about the Child Themes are available here: http://www.gavick.com/magazine/gavernwp ... Itemid=239

Hi, first of all congrats for your work.

I have 2 issues I would like to mention:

1) How using override.css can I change the image header for the template.css, tablet & mobile or have I got to copy each related file to my child theme to do this ?

2) When navigating to a post, returning to the previous home page with the browser's back button and the scrolling up it doesn't place the home's header ... how could I do this ?

Thanks in advance.

Marcos.

Hi Marcos,

Regards to first issue, you could use override.css, but you have to use media queries, better and simpler way is to copy related files to your Child Theme.

Regards second issue, could you provide URL to your website? (here or via PM), because I don't have this problem..

Hi Piotr,

Thank you for the reply.

The issue happens when using the iPad with the Simplicity´s demo as well. It´s not a huge problem but as I intend to focus on tablets ...

This is the sequence:
1) Go to a post. 2) Browser back button. 3) Scroll up.
The web is www.viip.co.

Thank you.
Marcos.

I've tested your site on iPad mini and don't see any problem. Please just look, this is the screenshot of page after loading :

1) https://www.dropbox.com/s/1dvatdj5n0shlxc/2013-06-03%2009.19.27.png

2) Then I've checked post >> https://www.dropbox.com/s/39jkuwvq9uo5crl/2013-06-03%2009.19.54.png

3) and then back to home using 'back' button in safari browser >> https://www.dropbox.com/s/6h6bbg4awxz1d5z/2013-06-03%2009.20.03.png as you can see there is no difference between first and third screenshot.
